    Assorted Russia, Part 33

    Spoilt Meat 1

There are many secrets that can prolong life to our of date food products. Sausages with mold on the surface can be wiped with a rag soaked in vegetable oil and sold out.

    Spoilt Meat 2

Shellfish and mussels are often put into water to make them look more fresh.

    Spoilt Meat 3

Some supermarkets have a kitchen of their own where an aged chicken is pickled anew and fried till a nice-looking crust is formed.

    Spoilt Meat 4

Often expired sausages are turned into nicely looking meat carvings and no customer will know the expiry date as the label is usually discarded.

    Spoilt Meat 5

Some sellers are too lazy for the manipulations and just cover the expiry date with a bar-code of the shop.

    Spoilt Meat 6

An expired product can be always repacked and sold with another label attached. Do you think a seller who tends to get profit will care about your health?

    Spoilt Meat 7

Any product sold by weight can contain out of date food. Thus, expired fruits and vegetables can be put into salads and sold out at a high price.

    Spoilt Meat 8

So think well before you buy food for yourself and choose products properly.

    Spoilt Meat 9

    Rest in peace.

What is the purpose of it and who could make it?

The thing was found on a balcony. One may think that it is earth from a flower pot that was broken. But it is not so.

    Look at the size.

It is not an ant hill either.

Dead flies were found inside it.

As well as other unspecified objects.

    A closer view.

Any idea of what it can be?

Unknown people hanged a flag over the roof of Opera and Ballet Theater in Novosibirsk.

By the way, the side part of the flag states ‘NSKRoofers approved’.

A similar flag was found on the roof of the city Mayor’s Office.

Original grates decorate windows of some basements in Saint-Petersburg.

I am sooo glad I do not eat meat and so do not have to worry about all that. Love those window screens.

By the way, I have been vegetarian for fifty years now and I am as healthy as a horse (they are presumed to be pretty healthy)

Really, it isn’t that hard to shop for quality meat in my part of the world. I would have thought the same is true for Australia. I’m sure it is, you just don’t shop for meat so wouldn’t know. It’s not any harder then picking out fresh vegetables and fruit from the rotten and not so good ones.

ayaa. I have perfect blood pressure, blood sugar, body weight etc. I can squat with 100 kg for 5 reps and overhead press 42kg. I practice that of course. ayaa, you would know that good health is no accident, I believe your army experience would teach you how to stay fit and healthy.

My doctor tells me I am not in too bad a shape for my age. I know some vegetarians that get fat from eating pasta and things like that a lot.

ayaa I have the same experience as you.I have afriend that I have since grade school and he is a bit of a hippie and when was about 22 (we are both 34) he went to an all vegetarian diet.I did not see him for a few years but the next time I did he was fatter than he was before! I said what gives? He did not know the answer.

I personally think that some people do eat too much meat we have only really adapted to a generally this comfortable life style for around 10,000 years but our stomachs are still Cro-Magnon(cave man). They ate meat yes but they also ate what ever else they could find as well.

I think every person is different each body needs a different diret than the next person. What is healthy for one person is not for the next.Though I would agree that meat should be eaten much less and in smaller portions. And that a person must also stay in shape as well.

I’m 32. I weigh in at ~70kg. I’m 188cm tall, so I guess that makes me 6″1′. I smoke, sometimes a pack a day. And yet, I can still do 500 push-ups a day, finish a 10km run, and can push my Volga Siber, over a km to the pump station. And its proofed against bullet and bomb. And I’m no vegetarian. So yes, different people have different dietary requirements. I hate it when doctors tell me to quit or drink less.

The thing with the man hole cover, has something to do with “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”.

They live underground, in the sewers. And LOVE pizza. (that’s why the pizza box, and that’s a picture of one of the turtles there).

Why they’re doing this, I don’t know. It looks like a memorial, like one died or something. No idea what that is about.

But you can google TMNT or the above and it will tell you all you need to know.

They are doing the same with meat in Lithuania. Also, supermarkets usually wash the expired salads, put new mayonnaise or vinegar and sell it. So be careful.

Hirsh you are correct, I think meat is pretty high quality here but I do not shop for it, and I can get caught out with nasty fruit and vegetables if I am not careful.

oh god. Do people die of food poisoning more often then from rotten meat? I feel sick to my stomach. Is there no public health or regulation?

The dead flies heap may have something to do with a gas leak, they seem to be attracted by its smell.
